Cyril Vere Whitehead

Private 240955 Cyril Vere Whitehead - Private 5th Battalion,

Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, wounded 19th June 1917,

Died of wounds at 3rd Canadian casualty Clearing Station, France, 22 June 1917, age 21,

 

address 16 Beach Street, Bare, Morecambe, educated at Morecambe National School.

Buried  LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

 

Employed at White Cross Mills as an apprentice electrical engineer. Third eldest son of Mr & Mrs W.J. Whitehead, who was bandmaster of Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment (c. 1884) and a conductor of the Territorial band.

 

Brothers serving, Private Reginald and Stretcher bearer Wilfred Vere Whitehead, both same Regiment, Private Herbert, 9th Royal Fusiliers.
