George Rowland Paget Howson

9th April 1917  Aged 30

Second Lieutenant 1st Bn., King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regt.) who died on Monday 9 April 1917 Age 30.PL

 

 

 

Son of Kate Mary Howson of The Cottage, Bare, Morecambe,

and the late Robert Gardner William Howson.

 

George Paget Howson lived in Bare and worked for the Manchester and Liverpool District Bank in Kirkby Lonsdale and in Carnforth. Attended LRGS where he was conspicuous at games, an interest he continued after school in cricket, athletics and football. Enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers and served in France. He returned to Oxford OTC from whence he was commissioned into the King's Own. Died leading his platoon in an attack.
