John Ernest Airey

23 November 1917  Aged 25

Corporal 18th Hussars, died of fever in Egypt, 1917, address 20 Beach Street, Morecambe.

Son of Mr & Mrs J T Airey, brothers; 2nd Lieutenant Tom, Australian Imperial Forces, and

Arthur, 1/5th Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, serving in France.


Lance Corporal Hampshire Regiment died of dysentery at Alexandria hospital, 1917, age 25,

formerly served in the 18th Hussars. Born at 4 Windy Hill, King Street, Lancaster,

educated at National school, and sang with his brothers in the choir of Lancaster Parish Church.

His wife lives at Whitchurch, Hants, and she has a daughter.


His parents Mr and Mrs Airey reside at Beach Street Bare, of his brothers, John Ernest has died,

Thomas is living in New South Wales, and Arthur is serving in 5th Battalion Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. See Arthur Richard Airey
